IT SYSTEMS ENGINEER
We seek a full-time IT Systems Engineer, a technical and strategic position within our company. This position is responsible for the administration, technical support, maintenance, and configuration of servers to support clients’ units in day-to-day operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned).
- Administration of corporate networks, including Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Administers and maintains servers, desktop/laptop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, and smartphones and can install any upgrades necessary.
- Project management as needed.
- Direct user interaction: analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
- Ensure completeness and integrity of data backup systems.
- Implement and maintain security tools: firewalls, anti-virus protection on servers and workstations, intrusion detection systems, and disaster recovery plans.
- Troubleshoot any server-related problems, and prioritize and communicate server problems as necessary.
- Ensures proper user licensure to remain compliant.
- Maintain administration of MS O365, DNS, and Email
- Provide end-user support with MS Windows operating systems and peripherals.
- Install and support new users, new workstations, laptops, and servers and support desktop-level users.
- Installation and maintenance of virtualization software (VMWare, vSphere, Hyper-V).
- Documentation of necessary information for the client and for the company.
- Entering time and expenses as they occur.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Network design and implementation, performance, and tuning.
- Management skills include problem-solving abilities, strategic planning, quality coordination, multi-tasking, and technical understanding.
- Good organizational and workflow skills with attention to detail.
- Experience with Fortigate, MS Windows, and Office 365.
- Be able to work independently as well as with a team and have strong client skills.
- Can escalate service/project issues that cannot be completed within the agreed service level.
- Adaptability and technical awareness: the ability to match resources to technical issues, research, and development where required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
An Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with server administration experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience of five years.
